What Color is Your Autism?

This morning I wrote an awesome blog about why I don't like coloring things blue for Autism Awareness.  It had an awesome meme and this quote from a fellow Autism mom:

Awesome Autism Speaks Stinks Meme
"With April comes the biggest fundraising push for Autism charities as it is Autism awareness month. As an autism parent I urge anyone looking to donate to the cause find a local or reputable national charity to donate to if you truly wish to help individuals with autism and their families. Autism speaks is an incredibly corrupt organization that uses its donations to fund its campaign and has become the most recognizable organization. Due to this genuinely well intentioned people and companies wind up wasting their donations on a charity that pays six figure salaries and millions on their penthouse offices in NYC."

I also linked  this awesome editorial in the Washington Post, by Kim Stagliano, who is spot on.  She does have a bit of an irate & bitter angle, but after reading her background, she has every reason.  My favorite part?  She states, "But while you’ll be seeing blue everywhere, I’ll be seeing RED."

I also used a picture of all the world turning blue for Autism... wouldn't it be awesome if the world was as supportive of the kids and adults as this picture shows they are, the OTHER 364 days of the year (365 on Leap Years)?  I said other stuff about it, but I don't remember what it was.

Then I told an adorable story about why the blue Facebook profile pictures freak me out, concerning a sharpie incident that made a favorite baby doll of Cassie's look like a dead baby, and that is all I see when I see these pictures.  Its just creepy.  And why did they pick blue, anyways?  Its a sad color.  The Autism I see isn't sad.  Its also a calm color.  The Autism I see is RARELY calm, unless its the calm before the storm!

Anyhow, it was a really awesome blog, but, alas, I deleted it.  Cassie asked me why I was grumpy, and I told her about it.  She asked me why I did that.  "Ummm....  'cause I felt I was simply too awesome yesterday and I felt I should tone it down a bit today."  "Oh, you did it on accident", she giggled.  Yep.  I see the color of the Autism I live with is a Spectrum of Jelly Beans...  with some of those nasty black and sour ones liberally thrown in.  Why?  Because just like life, it is never all happy, but I really wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

As always, I will work for money, but I am not for sale.  Meaning, I'll review anything, and I do love a challenge, so send me ideas and suggestions, but my opinions can't be bought.  I do take Paypal  donations anytime at eaglemingoroost@gmail.com.
